ALLIUM

Allium, as you will see is a whole list of different plants that we all know but never realized that they were part of Genus Allium. What you will also see is what Species that plant is and a few interesting facts about each species like height, hardiness zones they grow in, bloom times, propagation methods, seed collection and other stats.     Common Chives -
    The Chives Common, ‘Allium schoenoprasum,’ is at home in any garden or location. The beautiful flowers and foliage are edible and have a delicate onion flavor. This is one of the easiest to grow and maintain perennial herbs. They will grow to a height of twelve inches with narrow, hollow leaves. The seeds should be planted in the spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or two months before the first fall frost. They prefer a rich, well draining soil.

Globemaster has a bloom period of about 3 weeks to a month and they bloom in late spring to early summer.

    White Sweet Spanish Onion Bunching -
    The Onion Bunching White Sweet Spanish, ‘Allium fistulosum,’ produces delicate stems with sweet, juicy tops that cannot be resisted by onion lovers. This particular variety will also form a small, globe-shaped white onion. If an onion is harvested before it has the chance to bulb, it is referred to as a scallion. When onions such as this type are bunched together, they will produce small or no onion bulbs, but the scallions produced are milder, juicier and sweeter tasting than those of regular, full sized onion bulbs.
