Eliminating Bed Bugs Yourself

Custom Search

bed bug, Cimex lectularius Linnaeus, from Whitney Cranshaw, Colorado State University, Bugwood.org

Eliminating bed bugs yourself is usually an exhausting and wearisome job. Since bed bugs tend to be seriously irritating, individuals who experience bed bugs in their houses frantically search for and follow whatever methods they can find to get rid of bed bugs.

So, how do we eliminate bed bugs?

The Simple Measure

The simplest method might be one of the most difficult, because it will most definitely need your extreme persistence and determination.

You'll have to keep an eye out and trap the bed bugs once they leave their habitats.

That means that you'll probably have to be up through the night since bed bugs generally emerge and search for food in the early hours of the night.

That's the time period they sense their "donors" are most susceptible.

Therefore, the simplest action is keep an eye out and catch the bed bugs, one by one. Immediately after catching them, crush them.

The Damaging Method

An effective and lethal (also dangerous) method to eliminate bed bugs is to use pesticides or insecticides.

Three categories of bug products are available for sale to to help you eradicate bed bugs. Take a look at all of them carefully.

One type is insecticidal dusts. These contain ground or powdered glass and silica dust. The dust kills bed bugs by eliminating their outer wax-like protective coats.

Insecticidal dusts also have chemical substances. When the bed bugs’ defensive layers are destroyed, the harmful chemicals set in and damage the bugs' internal structures.

The next type is contact pesticides. These are insecticides that should be used on infested places or areas. You'll find this is extremely efficient in eliminating bed bugs.

However, there are disadvantages. For starters, contact pesticides have strong chemical odors. Since the bugs can detect scents very efficiently, they'll very easily sense existence of the pesticides.

And since contact pesticides repel more than kill, they may simply drive the bed bugs away, instead of killing them.

The final type is the development controllers. This type aims to eliminate bed bugs by stopping their development. If they can't mature and lay more eggs, the problem will eventually disappear as adults die off and there are no more bugs to replace them.

Using Expert Help

If none of the above rid your home of bed bugs, you may have to turn to expert help to eliminate these pests.

The experts already know exactly what to do to eliminate bed bugs successfully. These people are much more acquainted with the correct chemicals and insecticides. That reduces the dangers of these chemicals to your and your family.

Eliminating bed bugs yourself may be easy, if you understand exactly how to do it and have the patience to continue to the end.

But the most dependable and most efficient method is to get in touch with pest eradicators, the sooner the better!
