GERANIUM
 Bright Cascade Geranium
A variety of plants of the genus Geranium, having leaves shaped like palms with pink or purplish flowers. Someplaces they are called cranesbill.
A variety of plants of the genus Pelargonium, from southern Africa and widely grown for their rounded, often variegated foliage and showy clusters of red, pink, or white flowers. They are also called storksbill.
A common name for some members of the family Geraniaceae, a group of herbs and small shrubs of moderate and subtropical regions. Their fruits are long and beak-shaped which gives them the popular names crane's-bill, the true geranium; heron's-bill, and stork's-bill. The American wild geranium, or wild crane's-bill, has five-petaled flowers that are rose-to-purple color and deeply forked leaves.
Geraniums are grown not only as ornamentals but for the extracted aromatic oils from their leaves and flowers that are used in flavorings and perfumes. Geranium oil is refreshing and cleansing and has a floral, sweet and fresh fragrance. It may be used in the treatment of oily skin, acne, cellulites, dull skin and lice.
Geraniums are classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Geraniales, family Geraniaceae.
Propagation is by semi-ripe cuttings in summer, by seed or by division in autumn or spring.

 | Montevideo Geranium - The Geranium Montevideo, ‘Pelargonium x hortorum,’ is a unique plant and produces beautiful salmon pink flowers. Providing a mass of season long color, these plants are commonly used as a bedding or container plant that is grown in almost every region of the country. The plants feature succulent leaves and stems. Geraniums should be planted in ordinary well-drained soil. Too much fertilization will result in excessive foliage with fewer flowers. To promote extra bushiness, the shoots should be pinched off. Deadheading of spend flowers will promote enhanced flowering.
