Japanese Rock Garden Designs

Japanese Garden flickr berk2804

When you speak of a Japanese garden 3 elements come to mind. Water features, rocks and plants which will be in all of these gardens. There are more elements but you will find that these are the main ingredients. We are going to consider the rocks, stones and boulders in this article. They are visible and helpful Japanese garden components that has many feasible and functional applications, along with its artistic qualities in Japanese rock garden designs.

Big boulders will hide some unpleasant to look at views. If you have water hoses and their connections are in a spot that needs to be hidden from the sight of others but still need to have access to these items and don't want them to be part of the scenery just place a boulder and/or a bush in and around the items.

Say you have a place that is giving you problems with growing plants, then set in some practical looking rocks. You know that there is always going to be a place that does not want to co-operate. Everything you try, it does not do well. For one reason or another, like always too wet or the soil has too much clay. This would be the perfect place to do a strategic rock placement.

You will probably have a water feature of some sort and rocks and stones will enhance the scene. Put near a pond to give the area a natural look and produce a site that is likeable. Placing a large flat stone in the area could be used as an excellent place to kneel down. And next to that the placing of a large boulder can be used as a resting seat.

Use the stones or rocks to line a walkway. It will help navigate the visitor in and around the course you want them to walk. It also causes them to linger a little longer and ponder the structure, helping to make their stroll a little more enjoyable.

Do you need to separate portions of the garden, then stones can do the trick. Sites where you want to keep people out can be accomplished with this natural barrier as well it keeps the interest of the stroller.

Behind the many plants you have, form a background with rocks that will help highlight your plants. Placing rocks with many shapes and textures will add to the focus that you want on the plants and not the rocks themselves.

You might need to keep a slope in place and this can be done with rocks. Need a wall to build a raised garden or as a retainer wall. Large rocks or boulders will do the job and retain the beauty of the garden. Planning steps up a slope, then use thick flat stones.

Most Japanese gardens will have a small stream running into a central pond and in nature you will find that rocks line that stream. They will also provide a block to erosion

This is just one aspect of having a beautiful Japanese garden. By planning well and taking your time and not skimp on the quality to your work of art. Most of all it will be a joy to all that see your Japanese rock garden designs.
